Apple Cider Monkey Bread Pull-Aparts

Ingredients

DOUGH:

  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 (3/4 – ounce) package instant yeast
  • 2 1/2 – 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4  cup butter, softened

 

CINNAMON SYRUP:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

 

APPLE GLAZE:

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup apple sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped PLANTERS® Apple Cider Donut Cashews

Directions

  1. In medium bowl place brown sugar and warm water.  Sprinkle yeast; let bloom for 5-10 minutes.  In stand mixer with dough hook attachment, combine 2 ½ cups flour and salt.  Mixing on low speed, pour in warm milk, apple cider vinegar and bloomed yeast mixture.  Add ½ cup more flour and knead until flour is mixed in.  Mix in butter until completely incorporated.  Add extra flour gradually just until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl.  Transfer dough to a clean, oiled bowl.  Cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise in warm, dark place 1 to 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.

SYRUP:

  1. In medium saucepan over medium heat whisk together brown sugar, water, applesauce, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar and salt until dissolved.  Let cool in refrigerator.
  2. Once dough has risen, punch dough down in center to release air.
  3. Heat oven to 350°F.  Line 10 x 15-inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.  Divide dough into 24 pieces.  Roll into balls. Roll balls in cooled syrup.  Place on prepared baking sheet.  Bake in center of oven 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove from oven.

GLAZE:

  1. Warm butter, applesauce, brown sugar and salt in pan on stove top or in bowl in microwave.
  2. Drizzle warm monkey bread with apple glaze. Sprinkle with cashews
